Chicken production is more feed-efficient than beef (1.8:1 vs. 6:1 feed-to-meat ratio), but at 103.5 pounds per capita consumption, total chicken production now demands massive monoculture corn/soy acreage, concentrated manure pollution, and antibiotic use. The per-person efficiency gain is overwhelmed by scale.
